Now that's a shower!

An update to our master bathroom. The shower stall and bath were demolished to put in one large shower. The tile work is completed and it looks great! Here is the before:

And here is the after:

Now that's a shower! Seriously, we could have a party in there!
Of course, thers is still the matter of adding the fixtures, glass partition, vanity....and having the toilet back will be nice.

The cabinets for the kitchen and bathrooms arrives tomorrow. It's going to be a busy week!

The Wall

In a previous post, I mentioned that this angled wall separating the kitchen and great room is now flat. The wood planks were removed and it was drywalled.

I was thinking of a way to offset the wood once again. I really envision a concrete type wall here. Something like this:

This is from the Room and Board site. I found out that it is actually large tiles from a company in Spain. I love the industrial type look. I emailed them, but they have no dealers in the US and it would have cost quite a bit to order from Spain. I posed the question on the Houzz site as to how I could get what appears to be a concrete wall, but really isn't. I also didn't want a faux wall because I think it would look too fake. Someone suggested contacting people who do concrete countertops or stucco work so that is what we did.
We found someone who does a plaster type application that looks exactly like concrete.
Exactly what I was envisioning for this wall! Application happens next week I will be there to watch the whole process.

More remodel updates

Kitchen
All appliances, cabinets and counters have been removed. It's kind of funny seeing it empty like this!

Custom cabinets have been ordered and will be arriving in a couple of weeks. Countertop (we decided to go with Silestone) has been ordered.
Rather than a pocket door going from the kitchen to the great room, we blew out that door and expanded the opening.

Definitely opens up the view! You may have noticed something else. The wood planks are gone replaced with drywall. Now we have a big flat angled wall to play with. I will talk about this more later.

Bedroom Atrium
Is GONE. Thank god! That room was pretty useless...and hot as Hades! It will be nice to open up our sliding doors in the master bedroom and step outside onto the deck!

Deck
Was a rotting pile of crap.

Deck is being completely replaced over the next two weeks.

Master Bathroom
We were going to leave as is but decided we could not live with the blue tile or the tub.

Neither of us really takes baths, so we are replacing with a very large shower.

Complete with bench!
It's being tiled this week. This is the limestone tile we picked out:

Things are moving along!

Guest bathroom update

All I can say is WHAT A DIFFERENCE! The new tile looks incredible.
